CT Pistol Permit Course

Short Description : Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for owning and operating a pistol safely, this course fulfills the training requirements in order to obtain your CT Pistol Permit.


More Details: This course is up to 8-hours long (usually takes less) and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot revolvers and semi-automatic pistols. Students learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest position, and two handed standing positions; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. 

Students will take a Basics of Pistol Shooting Student Examination, and  receive a Course Completion Certificate.

Pricing includes classroom instruction, certification, use of safety equipment, use of handguns, ammunition and live fire range fees.

There are 2 options for this course, you can select the CT approved RTC course or the NRA course, both qualify to get your CT pistol permit, the NRA course inlcudes an NRA Student pack.

NRA Basic Rifle Course

Short Description : Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of a rifle in target shooting.


More Details: This course is approximately 8 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot rifles. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

Short Description : Teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude for the safe and proper use of a shotgun in shooting a moving target.

More Details: This course is approximately ten-hours long and includes classroom and range time learning how to shoot shotguns at moving targets. Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; shotgun parts and operation; shotgun shell components; shotgun shell malfunctions; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting at straight away and angled targets; cleaning; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Shotgun Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet, take a Basics of Shotgun Shooting Student Examination, and course completion certificate.

For this course students must bring a shotgun and ammunition

Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program

Short Description : The Eddie Eagle GunSafe® Program teaches children in pre-K through third grade four important steps to take if they find a gun. These steps are presented in an easy-to-remember format consisting of the following simple rules:

IF YOU SEE A GUN:

  1. STOP! 
  2. Don't Touch. 
  3. Leave the Area. 
  4. Tell an Adult.

More Details: This program was developed through the combined efforts of such qualified professionals as clinical psychologists, reading specialists, teachers, curriculum specialists, urban housing safety officials, and law enforcement personnel. The purpose of the Eddie Eagle Program isn't to teach whether guns are good or bad, but rather to promote the protection and safety of children. NO FIREARMS ARE USED DURING THIS PROGRAM!
